Today in the history of Apple redesign iOS 7, which divided the fans
One of the most famous updates in the history of the mobile operating system iOS destroyed skeuomorphism and buried alive all the textures and dials of previous iterations. All this was replaced by light and translucent elements with simpler icons. So began the era of Joni Quince in the development of user interfaces Apple.
I recall my emotions after a brief announcement with the voice of Joni Ive in the background. I was really stunned, such a visual change seemed something really new and fresh. Of the negative points, I note that the "seven" sentenced my iPad 2 to sale on Avito, since it started to slow down pretty much after the update.
Escape from everything you know
The redesign was led by Joni Ive, who, according to rumors, never liked skeuomorphism and considered it obsolete. The main supporter of the "outdated" design was Scott Forstalb who left the company by 2013 due to a scandal with Apple cards.
iOS 7: not only aesthetics
In addition to the “cosmetic repair”, important innovations appeared in iOS 7, such as the notification center, the redesigned Siri, automatic application updates, and the AirDrop wireless file sharing system. According to Apple, the Seven has become the fastest growing version of the software.
About 35% of devices were updated on the first day of release, and during the first 5 days, iOS 7 was installed on 200 million devices. The latest version of iOS 7, number 7.1.2, was released on June 30, 2014. It was replaced by iOS 8 released on September 17, 2014. Now that Joni Ive has left Apple, it will be interesting to watch the further development of iOS and iPadOS.
