Sony left one of the senior executives
The official PlayStation Twitter account reported that Sony left Sean Leiden, one of the largest executives at SIE Worldwide Studios. It was this branch of the Japanese corporation that was responsible for the exclusives, and Leiden himself controlled the creation of such hits as God of War, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, Spider-Man and many others.
We are forced to report that Sony Worldwide Studios chairman Sean Leiden has left Sony Interactive Entertainment. We will not have enough of his wise guidance. We wish Sean success in all endeavors and thank him for his years of service. Thanks for everything, Sean!
What Sean Leiden will do now is unknown. But there is no doubt that such a prominent figure in the industry will easily find application. It is noteworthy that one of the largest Sony executives leaves the company at an extremely crucial moment: there is only a year left in the release of its new console.
Sean Leiden joined Sony for a long time: he worked in the company since 1987, starting with the communications department. After the founding of the gaming direction in the early nineties, he moved there and rose to high posts. What is connected with Leiden’s departure from the post is reported, however, it is too early to believe that something is wrong with the Japanese corporation because of one dismissal.
UPD: Following Sean Leiden, Sony left Atsushi Morita, the nephew of Sony founder Akio Morita. Starting in 2014, he led Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia, but decided to retire at the age of 60.
