How To Open Blocked Sites On Iphone And Ipad
I really do not like when a certain Russian organization Roskomnadzor decides for me which sites I can visit and which not. So it comes to the point that they will cover Wikipedia under some specious pretext. On the other hand, we have not yet Turkey, which blocked Facebook, WhatsApp and Youtube. So we live …
For example, Roskomnadzor blocked Flibusta, which often helped me out. No, I do not advocate piracy, I read 90% of books in paper, but it often happened that I needed some kind of book urgently in digital form. And after all, specifically with books, I can hardly be called a pirate.
For example, the day before yesterday I was on the road and wanted to continue reading a paper book from Remarque’s Three Comrades phone, so that I would go back to paper upon arrival. And that’s all – the filibust is blocked, and the garbage book sites advertise LitRes, to which I have little trust than Roskomnadzor. And why should I buy a book for a couple of hours of reading?
For these cases, I have everywhere installed two useful applications that allow you to get around all the restrictions.
Tor Browser – Red Onion
Tor (short for The Onion Router) is free and open source software for implementing the second generation of so-called onion routing. This is a proxy server system that allows you to establish an anonymous network connection that is protected from listening.
There are several Tor browsers in the App Store, but not all of them work as expected. For more than a year now I have been using a program from Omar Mody with the long name Red Onion – Tor-powered web browser for anonymous browsing and darknet. The browser runs slowly, like all Tor technology, but true!
Before starting a session, you need to wait 10 seconds-2 minutes for the browser to be ready for operation.
Now you can go to any blocked sites.
In the settings you can change the default search, the number of downloads, set a password to enter the application, etc.
The most important advantage of Tor Browser: “option out of the box” – installed from the App Store and use it.
Opera VPN is an application that works on a slightly different principle.
VPN (Virtual Private Network) is a generic name for technologies that allow one or more network connections (logical network) over another network (for example, the Internet).
The program is a free VPN service. That is, to bypass locks, you must do the following:
- Go into Opera VPN and enable the VPN itself.
- Go to any browser, in particular Safari. There you can go to any site.
- Upon completion, do not forget to turn off the VPN again in Opera VPN.
A bit inconvenient, that’s why I use Tor Browser … But Opera VPN is also a great and working way to get around blocking. At the same time, sites open even a little faster. The program itself selects the nearest region through which traffic will go.
Opera VPN can block ads and trackers (statistics services).
Both programs do an excellent job: they bypass Roskomnadzor’s locks. I do not recommend using them constantly and for other purposes. Still, all traffic passes through third-party servers and this is not entirely safe.
